Last Horizons

1:

Cracks spread voicelessly

as lightning peels free of it’s skin.

Crowds scream-

defenceless against naked veins

falling towards them-

turning to run

drenched in blood.

2:

Soldiers can’t shoot

what’s sustaining them

so lay down, silent.

Around them, screams are the final conversation-

too late now to discuss the cure

for Ozone-heartbreak.

3:

Watching the sun

become a staircase outside her window,

a girl and her teddy-bear-heartbeat  wonder

“What if we’d been there

for our horizon?”

Thank you for reading Last Horizons.

This piece was a reaction to the song 'Horizon,' from Splendid Fred Record's This Changes Everything.
